Bag Fabric: One 15” x 30” rectangle
Straps: Two 25” webbing straps about 1’ wide (or make your own)
Facing: Two 15” x 2.5” pieces of fabric (ironed up a ½” along one long edge of each facing) *Spiral orange fabric shown in tutorial to show contrast.

1. Raw-Edge Straight-Stitch Appliqué:
Peel and stick the cut-out appliqué fabric shapes about 3”-4” down from the top of bag. Topstitch a straight stitch 1/4” from the edge of each cut out shape. Tip: New sewists might prefer using black thread.
2. Straps and Facing:
Place and pin untwisted straps 2” from each side on the front and back of the bag.
Place raw edges of facing over straps, right sides together. Make sure the edges of the strap and facing are even with the edge of the bag. Stitch a 1/2” seam allowance along the top edge. Repeat with the other side of the bag.
3. Side Seams:
Next, flip facings up (press if available), fold bag in half wrong sides together and sew French seams along both sides. NOTE: To sew French seams, fold wrong sides together and stitch a 1/4” along both side seams. Then, turn bag inside out and stitch 3/8” along side seams to hide and completely encase raw edges.
Flip the facing down into the inside of the bag (press if available) and stitch close to the edge of the facing around the entire top edge of the bag. All done! Happy Halloween!
